Porcelain Veneers
Also called porcelain laminates, they are thin, custom made porcelain shells that fit precisely over the front surfaces of the teeth. They appear completely natural so they look more life like and hold their brilliance better than other techniques like bonding. Porcelain veneers can even correct minor tooth crowding or gapping with proper placement.
They are more durable and maintenance free than traditional bonding, with no restrictions on what you can eat - apples are not a problem. The porcelain veneer process is a non-reversible procedure because a layer of enamel is removed to make room for the new porcelain shells.
Two office visits are required three to four weeks apart. The first visit is to clean the teeth of any existing bonding and prepare for the veneers by taking impressions. We choose color and shade, then order the custom veneers. A temporary bonding is placed to cover the exposed teeth. On your second visit, the veneers are placed and permanently cemented.
